31st.Oct. 1895.
In your memorandum of the 14th.August you recommended
a cameo embossing press at a cost of £90.19.5 We request you
to inform us whether this will still be necessary, or whether
both the double and the single dated shanks can be produced
in red by means of the machinery already existing in Hong Kong.
If this is the case, we presume the total cost of introducing
the double dated shank's would be £10 for the die and £18.8.0
14-
each) for the plugs; and for the single dated shanks
£8.10.0 for the die and £9.4.0 for the one set of plugs,
Messrs De La Rue & Co.

Crown Agents.
1st.Nov.1895.
Either of the dies could be printed in colour by means of
the existing presses now in Hong Kong by means of a nand roller
and this would perhaps be the better plan, until it is ascertain-
ed if such dies answer the requirement of the Government. If
they do, and if large quantities are required, it would be
more economical to employ one of our self-inking Embossing
presses quoted for (as per table 40 of the Schedule) in our
memo of August 14th. at £90.19.5, including the necessary extra
fittings.
